What has shaped you?

We are constantly being molded by our environment. I have had people and experiences that were important in helping me arrive at where I am now, but I am also aware that everything and everyone I have come in contact with has left their imprint on me, and it just so happens that design is the one that stuck with me through it all.

corporate identity

Challenge: To re-brand the corporate identity for the Belleville Bulls. Solution: For the re-branding of the corporate identity I wanted to design something that got away from the typical cartoon character with a hockey stick, and make something that had a more sophisticated look but still captured the feel of a hockey team.

book cover re-design

Challenge: To re-design the book sleeve for the novel "Fight Club" using all illustration. Solution: I wanted to make something that would be visually eye-catching on the shelf. I used dark colours and accented with pink to have something that really popped. The idea behind the soap was to take an important topic out of the novel and have a focus on that for the cover.

stamp design

Challenge: To design stamps and the full collection for the International Year of Forests. Solution: For these pieces I wanted to design something that focused on the impression that humans have on forests. The handprint symbolizes the impression we have so I overlaid it on top of images of various things that relate to forests to portray that.

poster design

Challenge: To create a poster that creates promotion for the San Francisco Film Society. Solution: For this poster I wanted to create something that had a focus both on the film and on the city of San Francisco. I wanted to play on the "California" aspect with the variation of sunglasses, then subtly add a small feature of film with the cutout film strips on each pair.

poster design

Challenge: To create a campaign to promote the up-coming typographic conference in Spain. Solution: The challenge for this assignment was to create something that both focused on typography and to make something that had a focus on Spain. I wanted to use warm colours such as reds and yellows to do this.
