HOW WOULD A 26% PAY CUT AFFECT YOU?

On average, Canadian women are earning 74¢ for every $1 men earn. This amount has only increased by 10¢ since the Pay Equity Act was put in place in 1987. Employment trends account for some of this difference, but discrimination is also clearly involved.

If this trend continues and nothing is done it will take 52 years for wages to be equal. Narrowing this gap will not only improve the lives of women, but can even increase GDP growth rates.

Pivot is a not-for-profit organization that represents pay equity in Canada. Using design, this campaign aims to build a positive image for Canadian employers who are paying their employees fair wages.

Using Pivot Certification, employers can use the Pivot logo on their products and media as a way of showing company values to the public.

It works in a way similar to ecologos (FSC, CarbonFree Certified, Green Seal, etc.) where consumers may choose one product over another because of the good that company is doing. It’s a positive feedback loop that benefits those trying to make a difference.
