Where activism meets handmade

The primary piece of this was the stamps as they were designed because 2021 is the International Year for the Elimination of Child Labour. The images of children were printed and then hand-stitched and re-photographed to bring awareness of the pain that these children go through.

This project was mentally challenging because of the subject material. It was crucial when tackling this important subject in a way that wasn’t grotesque but also didn’t shy away from the issue at hand. Going in the subtle route of using strings as tears for the children seemed appropriate and emotional.
